Did you know that our head office is called Concorde House. The aircraft naming reflected the treaty between the British and French governments that led to Concorde’s construction, the French word concorde, has an English equivalent, concord. Both words mean agreement, harmony or union, which defines the way in which Hopkins strive to partner with our staff, clients and supply chain, and is key to our business model.

We have been delighted to be presented with an original Concorde photograph signed by the 4 pilots, from one of our key supply chain partners, Jon Belfield of InTandem Systems. He knew that this would take pride of place in our reception to go with our other original Concorde items.  Thanks Jon, it looks great!

Congratulations to Bradley Brunsdon, Callum Harman and Alan Farnes for 5 years’ service at Hopkins. Here’s Bradley receiving his length of service award from our Chairman, Paul Hopkins.

Talk Mental Health launched their #385challenge fundraising event, which took place during Men’s Health Awareness Week (14th to 20th June) where they challenged people around the UK to attempt 385 of any physical activity during that week.

It was to raise awareness of men’s health, the impact such things as; Toxic Masculinity, is having on males of all ages and the over 385 men who die through suicide every month in the UK. Of the 6.500 people lost to suicide annually, 75% are men and it is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45.

We are proud to sponsor the founder of Talk Mental Health and the #385challenge, Nick Wilson, who is currently undertaking a gruelling 385mile cycle as his #385challenge. Follow his story here: https://givepenny.com/talkmentalhealthuk_385challenge

We were pleased to attend the Morgan Sindall Construction Southern region supply chain awards at which we were awarded the ‘Sub-Contractor of the Year Award 2020 (£500K+)’. The ceremony was held at Morgan Sindall’s St Mark’s School site in Southampton and the awards were presented by their Regional Director, Cliff Kinch, and the Regional Supply Chain Manager, Phillip Church.
The award is in recognition of the pre-construction help the Hopkins team have provided throughout the year and the proactive start on site of our St Mark’s installation team.

In line with our Business Direction Plan, we are pleased to update you on the progress made to date and the exciting news that we can now share the following internal promotions.

We are pleased to announce that Neal Haworth has been appointed as the new Regional Manager for our Thames Valley office, and Nick Humber has been appointed as the new Regional Manager for our Fareham office.

In Major Projects we are pleased to announce the successful appointment of Robert Weston to Project Director.

Good luck to all three candidates in their new roles.

National Apprenticeship Week!

At Hopkins we value our apprentices and the fantastic contribution that they bring to our organisation. Our apprenticeship programme is thriving with 18 members currently undertaking training in different areas of the company, which will help support our business direction plan over the coming years.

To help celebrate we asked two of our design apprentices, past and present, to share their thoughts and experiences. Ben Sherwood, who is at the beginning of his career and Jason Parker, who is well into his career and a great example for our apprentices that ‘the sky’s the limit’ with hard work and determination.

Hopkins have a long history in supporting charities and sports clubs in the local community and this year is no different. Back in July 2021 Hopkins sponsored the newly formed Hedge End United FC Under 7’s who play the Eastleigh & District Mini Soccer league at Stoneham Park. Hedge End United are a well-established club with teams at most age groups from under 7’s through to under 14’s. The club’s ethos very much aligns with Hopkins with a focus on teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and playing with a smile on your face! Now the season is drawing to a close, we wanted to give you an update on the boys’ progress. The team have done amazing this season, from losing their first game 10–1, they are now holding their own in the top league and playing some great football at times. More importantly the boys are all playing with a smile on their faces and have become best of friends. A big well done to all the boys from us at Hopkins! ⚽️
