As a result of continued business growth, we are delighted to announce the opening of our new Brighton based office.

Our new premises will expand our current services in the South East and increase our support to the local community through recruitment and supply chain, all with the continued plan to deliver quality and value to our growing list of Clients.

Following on from our support to local apprenticeship fairs at Portsmouth and Southampton Football Clubs earlier this year, J&B Hopkins have been supporting local schools to promote the benefits of apprenticeships and inspiring young people to take an exciting leap into the construction industry be it an electrician, plumber or to express their creative in design.

Why not take a few minutes and watch a recent apprenticeship video staring our very own Callum Harman, Electrical Apprentice and Phil Lambden, Managing Director – both sharing their views of apprenticeships and highlighting the importance of organisations opening up their doors and pathing the way for the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EgGenXe57s

If you would like J&B Hopkins to support your careers fair please contact Charlotte Stevens on 01489 584706.

With a heatwave predicted to bring temperatures above 35C to parts of the UK over the next few days, hydration is key, and that’s why all JBH employees are being provided with a company water bottle.

Keeping hydrated is also associated with better cognition and mental performance, and helps combat tiredness and fatigue, all of which can help organisational productivity.

J&B Hopkins are promoting the message that water should be drunk regularly throughout the working day and not just at mealtimes or in a response to thirst.

It has recently been highlighted that plastic water bottles are not successfully being recycled and therefore causing pollution to the environment. J&B Hopkins have reviewed the plastic used across our sites and offices, and aim to reduce our impact on the environment by supplying all employees with a reusable water bottle.

We were delighted to spend some time with The Rainbow Centre this afternoon and watch an adult and child session in progress.

The work they carry out with Conductive Education and their positive approach in focusing on what a person can do rather than what they can’t do is truly amazing.

We were thrilled to be able to donate £800 to the charity, thanks to our successful golf day earlier in the year.

Further information regarding the charity and the amazing work they carry out can be found here https://www.rainbowcentre.org/

A huge thank you and appreciation to everyone in supporting the business and our clients, through these challenging times and although the current position remains unclear; after Boris Johnson’s announcement on Monday, business is far from usual, but we are being asked to remain working on our sites.

We are obviously watching and waiting for any change made in policy by Government that may result in what we can and cannot do towards trading normally.

We are maintaining our services to the sites where possible, subject to constant health and safety checks to ensure all Government recommended safety measures are possible and supply chain materials being available.

Here at J&B Hopkins we recognise how important it is to grow and develop our rising stars.

To provide an additional level of development to our apprentices and trainees we have just launched our new mentoring scheme.  The scheme provides a formal platform whereby a mentor and mentee can create a confidential mentoring partnership aimed to assist the mentee to achieve personal and professional growth.

The scheme’s objectives are:

We are sure the experience will teach both the mentor and mentee new perspectives as well as many other skills for the future.

After another challenging year in the industry Hopkins have strived to improve the systems, management and implications of our Health and Safety System to ensure that all of our staff, site operatives and sub-contractors work safe, stay safe and return home safe after every working day.

We are pleased to be recognised for our efforts and be awarded ‘Health and Safety Excellence’ from HCS Safety for an overall 100% score for the year (albeit a little delayed due to the pandemic!) and we wish to open our thanks to all of our staff and supply chain.

We are proud to announce that we are continuing with our commitment around the wellbeing of our staff and this month we have had a number of our site staff trained as Mental Health Champions. Fully supported by our Mental Health First Aiders, our Champions have the knowledge to advocate for mental health and the ability to recognise if someone may need support with their mental health.

Together we continue to build a mentally healthy workplace, ending stigma and discrimination around mental health in the workplace.

J&B Hopkins were delighted to be awarded the prestigious Kier Southern ‘Subcontractor of the Year’ award for 2015. The award was given to our Chairman Paul Hopkins during the Kier Southern Charity Supply Chain Conference and Awards event at The Lingfield Park Country Club in Surrey.

The recognition  was especially pleasing as it was contested by all trades on the Kier supply chain throughout the Southern region and not just our piers in the services industry. The recognition of our staffs’ continued level of commitment, which is offered as standard to all of our customers, is a welcome accolade.
