We were delighted to welcome 18 students from Alabama’s Auburn University’s McWhorter School of Building Science to our current project hosted in partnership with our client EQUANS, the Glengall Road Student Accommodation in London. As part of their technical visit to Europe and the Middle East, they toured the basement and residential spaces of our £14 million building services project for the The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Building and Engineering Services Association (BESA Group), under the guidance of Kip Bahra, and the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), the students gained valuable insights into our work, guided by Project Director Michael Reader MIET and Lead Design Engineer James Mintram.
“It was a genuine pleasure to support the young graduate engineers visiting from America. This initiative not only fostered international collaboration but also highlighted the talent we have nurtured within our own organisation. Our designer, who began their journey with us as a graduate, had the invaluable opportunity to present the project design, demonstrating their growth and expertise,” said Dominic Harman, our Major Projects Director.
At Hopkins, we believe in the immense benefits of investing in the younger generation. Their fresh perspectives and significant value are vital to our ongoing success and innovation. We look forward to continuing to strengthen industry ties and empower future building science professionals.

Did you know Hopkins has a dedicated Pre-Construction Department? Our in-house team works tirelessly to provide a roadmap for the successful delivery of our projects. From ensuring cost certainty and compliance with employer requirements to programming and delivery, we equip our contracts teams with everything they need for success.
We were delighted to receive the Pre-Construction Award at the Morgan Sindall Construction Thames Valley Awards last week! 🎉
Our pre-construction offering is second to none, and our team goes the extra mile to help our valued clients achieve their financial goals and secure projects. Seeing these efforts recognised is incredibly rewarding. Thank you!
We are pleased to announce we will be working in partnership with McLaren Construction to deliver the design and build MEP package for High Leigh Primary School in Hoddesdon. 🏫
This new two-form entry primary school, which replaces the existing one-form entry Westfield Community Primary School, will accommodate 420 pupils aged 4-11 and will include an integrated 30-place nursery. It will provide additional space to serve the new High Leigh Garden Village where it is located.
Our Thames Valley Contracts team will lead the design and installation of the MEP package, marking our first collaboration with McLaren Construction. 👷♀️ 👷♂️
We look forward to being a part of this exciting project! 🎉

Congratulations to our joint winners! 🏆
Natalie Reader, Accounts Manager & Matt Figgins, Finance Manager
Matt and Natalie were nominated for this quarter‘s Employee Recognition Award for their joint effort in implementing a new accounting system across all teams, including Procurement and Surveying. Their joint action ensured that every member of the accounts team fully understood the new system and they worked closely with all teams to ensure a seamless transition.
Natalie and Matt have truly embodied our company values of Sustainability, Integrity, Collaboration and Ownership through their collaborative approach, by prioritising proper implementation to minimise disruption to operations, and empower all teams to leverage the full potential of the new software.
Well done to you both and thank you! 👏

Last month we bid farewell to three legendary members of our team, each leaving behind a mark on Hopkins with their combined 16 years of service. While their departure leaves a void, we couldn’t be happier for them starting their next chapter in life.
🎉 Join us in congratulating:
Brian Hopwood, Network Installer
Peter Lawrence, Senior Project Manager
Alan Farnes, Senior Site Supervisor
Brian has been instrumental in our specialist infrastructure department, spearheading major projects such as St. Marks School, Moulsecoomb Student Accommodation, and beyond.
Peter’s infectious energy and leadership has been integral to the success of our Thames Valley Region’s team since its inception.
Alan’s dedication to develop positive relationships with our clients to provide the best outcome on his assigned projects, whilst always teaching our apprentices the golden rule of being a quality installer “measure twice, cut once” will undoubtedly be missed.
As they seek new adventures, we extend our heartfelt wishes for success and fulfilment in all their endeavours. Though they may no longer be colleagues, they will remain cherished friends at Hopkins.
Thank you, Brian, Peter, and Alan, for your years of dedication and service.
