Primary & Secondary through school for Southampton City Council with a separate indoor sports hall facility and floodlit external MUGA pitches. The project was split into 2 phases with the primary school taking occupation 6 months prior to the main completion whilst the secondary & sports hall were under construction. The key features of the project included the incorporation of both photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage, the comprehensive IT package encompassed all active equipment, an audio-visual (AV) package was integrated into the main hall and drama studio, a hybrid natural ventilation system, the heating system was powered by gas fired boilers, catering to a combination of low surface temperature radiators and underfloor heating. The lighting system both wireless and equipped with emergency lighting control for safety and convenience. The Livingstone Academy project is located in the heart of Bournemouth and includes the renovation of 2 Court Buildings, one of which is listed, into a new Free School. In addition, a new school block is being integrated into the scheme.

This was a design & build project developing the design from RIBA Stage 3 to completion. The Free School specialises in IT and that has been reflected in the design with data and modern control solutions at its core.

Design and build project for a new Eton College Sports and Aquatic Centre (ESAC). A three-storey building comprising a 25m indoor pool with diving facilities and a moveable floor, there is also 2 changing room facilities comprising of toilets and showers. The complex also has a number of sports and spectator facilities including 9 court sports hall, 8 squash courts, general fitness spaces, athletes development space with spring track, dojo space, physio spaces, classrooms and offices. The facility is equipped with the latest BMS and pool control with timing systems along with full building A/V system. The scheme benefits from dimmable led lighting with Bluetooth control and is also surrounded with the latest led external lighting covering the parking and planted areas. The project has state of art basement plant room housing the boilers, CHP, water storage and pool equipment. In addition to this there is a concealed roof plant room housing all the ventilation and a/c equipment.

We introduced value engineering, ensuring full compliance with the DfE’s requirements and Clients financial budget. Working closely with our specialist energy modeler to design M&E systems with the highest energy efficiency to meet the EFA’s stringent energy consumption criteria.

Newbuild SEN School in Eastbourne, to accommodate 84 learners between the ages of 5 and 16 who have a diagnosis of autism and speech/communication needs (ASC), alongside a separate centre called the Southfield Centre which will educate up to 51 learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). The school will offer effective teaching facilities, plus a range of internal and external play areas, a hydrotherapy pool, quiet calming rooms, physiotherapy, SEN therapy rooms, soft play and sensory rooms.

Aureus Primary School (previously Chalk Hill Primary School) is a new build two form entry primary school with nursery room, classrooms, SEN rooms, offices, reception, staff room, kitchen, access, parking and landscaping. We were employed to develop the concept design from Stage 3 and provide a fully compliant installation in-line with the EFA specification and school specific brief.

Cedar SEN School is a new build special educational needs School funded by the ‘EFA’ (Educational Funding Agency) built to replace the existing school. The school located in Southampton was single storey and included 12no. classrooms, multipurpose hall, kitchen, a hydrotherapy swimming pool area, sensor room & staff areas.
Hopkins provided a full M&E design & build service from RIBA stage 3 to help ensure both the EFA and School’s specific requirements were met within their very strict budget.

The Carmelite Convent, Chichester, was first occupied by nuns in 1872 but was redundant and in a poor state of repair. The site now houses new Primary and Secondary wings which flank the existing building to provide education facilities to 1500 pupils and staff, whilst retaining much of the existing architecture.

Complete M&E Services Design & Build for a new build 1000 pupil Secondary School in Paulsgrove to replace the existing King Richard School. The new facility will comprise of a 3 storey split level building, with Sports Hall, Canteen and Offices. We have taken the M&E design from initial concept (RIBA Stage 2) to construction ensuring full compliance with the EFA’s requirements and clients strict financial budget. Working closely with the consultant’s energy modeler to design M&E systems with the highest energy efficiency to meet the EFA’s stringent energy consumption criteria and energy credits required to achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.
