A complete refurbishment of an existing 3 storey office building within the heart of Brighton, to a learning centre for the photographic department of the University of Brighton. The refurbishment consists of new workshops, darkrooms and lecture halls.
Our brief was a design and build M&E services from the main intake position services to the building. This was a very challenging task taking into account the age of the building and the fact that all services would be on show, topped with low ceilings within the basement area. This meant that great care had to go into the selection equipment to give the best performance, aesthetically pleasing and within budget. We worked closely with the architect, client and end user to achieve this goal.
The end product was outstanding, with a light airy comfortable place to work and study. Totally efficient LED lighting throughout with automatic lighting controls giving the faculty and students the right type of lux levels

Redevelopment of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s former home in Hindhead, Surrey, into a new facility for Stepping Stones, a specialist school for young people with disabilities. Many of the young people at the school are severely disabled and the school was meticulously designed with their needs in mind, to create an appropriate and comfortable learning environment. Undershaw was built in 1896 and is Grade II listed; it was latterly used as a hotel before lying vacant for a decade. Thomasons surveyed the building and recommended repairs sympathetic to its original design.
Hopkins carried out the mechanical and public health services installation on the project. The mechanical installation consisted of complete LTHW heating system, with both underfloor heating and low surface temperature radiators, local high efficiency heat recovery ventilation and central building management system.

Complete M&E Services Design & Build for new build 1200 pupil Secondary School. We have developed the initial concept design from the consultant through to construction stage. The school required full M&E services and incorporates low carbon technologies with natural ventilation.

A Design & Build project to renovate an old grade 2 listed Air Force Officers Mess and separate Sports Hall to a new Free School for pupils aged 3 to 16 years. The client had a restricted budget and value engineering was an important part in the delivery of a quality education facility. Taking a concept design and developing it to a workable solution to suit the budget was the significant challenge for this project. Working in a listed building presents challenges and we were able to deliver the project on time and in keeping with the buildings heritage.

The UTC Oxfordshire is a new build secondary and further education facility specialising in Science and Engineering serving approximately 600 pupils aged between 14 and 18. A fast track project with a period of 6 months for full M&E installation. The core concept of the project was high efficiency local heat recovery units and radiator circuits. The heating was supplied through high efficiency plant utilising gas absorption technology, this allowed us to meet our part L compliance targets.

A design and build mechanical services project to build a new Teaching Block for a private Primary Education Facility.
The project used Passivent pre-heated natural ventilation systems in conjunction with underfloor heating, heat recovery ventilation, domestic services and a stand alone plant room were all features of the project.

The project is the construction of a new science block; housing teaching labs, study areas and canteen areas across 3 floors.

An extension to the existing Vigo Infant and Junior School to expand the schools from a two to three form of entry (420 pupils to 630).
