Hopkins provided the complete MEP design and build package for the new conference/meeting building connected to the Maritime Integration and Support Centre. This new building creates a new “non-secret” space for BAE to meet with MOD & VIPs to hold performance reviews and discuss future requirements for the Navy. The building and external spaces reflect a modern office with spacious conference rooms and an opulent reception. Hopkins were involved in the full design and build for the new switchgear fed from the existing main panel in the Misc. building.
J&B Hopkins produced a level 5 Design and specification in accordance with MoD specification. The project consisted of full MEP installation to convert unused hangar into fully operational MT workshop. MEP and Secure Services installation in the existing armory and new extension. Refurbishment of WC facilities and installation of new kitchenette in building 38 and MEP services in the junior ranks mess and dining room.
Crescent Place Student Accommodation is a new build 476 bedroom student complex located in central Southampton, comprising of multi-purpose high rise block and 6 individual town houses. The project consisted of a centralised plant room with individual vent requirement to all bedrooms and kitchens.
Egham Gateway West was a part of a major development strategy to transform Egham town centre. The revitalisation of the High Street included a 3 screen boutique cinema, 101 new homes, shops, restaurants and 100 self-contained studio room student accommodation block. J&B Hopkins undertook the full Design and Build, M&E installation.
The project ‘Silicon Wharf’ has injected a new lease of life into the maritime industry in this area. The site has been developed as a remote operations and data center for robotic vessels, ensuring Woolston and the wider Solent area have a significant role in the next chapter of maritime development. Expansion of the UK control and data network and new training and development facilities will allow Ocean Infinity to train future operators and enable innovative & collaborative development with local universities and businesses.
Hopkins installed the full scope of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing services within the building, including full air conditioning and mechanical ventilation to all office areas. Our in-house data team worked closely with the client to ensure their specific requirements were met when designing and installing the data and security systems. We also worked closely with the wider design team and architect to ensure we met their aspirations in regards to aesthetics and coordination as a majority of the MEP services were exposed. Hopkins were contracted on a D&B basis to complete the site wide main panel and loose distribution switchgear.
Leanne House was a tired looking 1950’s office building which has been transformed into a modern all-purpose gymnasium. This was a fast track project which was completed in twelve weeks. Hopkins were involved from the offset which enabled us to use our design capabilities to ensure the budget was met.
J&B Hopkins are strong advocates of renewable energy and energy saving, and over the past 6 years we have installed PV systems ranging from small commercial rooftops right up to large Solar Farms.
The Llanwern Wales 75Mw PV solar farm project was split into 3 phases of which J&B Hopkins were contracted to install 1 phase of the works, with the size of 20Mwp.
The build was completed in 16 weeks and consisted of wiring, installation, connection and testing of all DC systems.
The project was completed within budget, on time and importantly to the client’s satisfaction.
The Livingstone Academy project is located in the heart of Bournemouth and includes the renovation of 2 Court Buildings, one of which is listed, into a new Free School. In addition, a new school block is being integrated into the scheme.
This was a design & build project developing the design from RIBA Stage 3 to completion. The Free School specialises in IT and that has been reflected in the design with data and modern control solutions at its core.
St Wilfrid’s Hospice in the village of Bosham is a custom built facility for the charity to act as a palliative care ward. With a capacity of 18 bedrooms each fitted with bespoke medical bedheads with a fully integrated Nurse Call system, a day hospice/walk in area, treatment rooms and also an office area to act as the charity’s new headquarters for administration and fund raising.
Audley Fairmile is a luxury retirement village development in Cobham, consisting of 2 bedroom high-end residential properties. The development also contains extensive communal areas including a restaurant and bar, hairdressing salon, library, guest facilities, swimming pool, and health spa.
