Hopkins Energy successfully completed the Penwortham Battery Storage project, involving the installation of new CATL Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) units and relocation of existing Sungrow BESS units. Gresham House oversaw equipment delivery and commissioning. Key activities included reconfiguring cabling, removing PCS units 1–8, and updating connections from battery containers 2–8 to PCS units 9–15. The CATL BESS installation involved preparing ground, installing concrete plinths, positioning BESS and auxiliary cabinets, stabilising with shingle, and constructing trackways. Cable management covered laying and terminating DC, auxiliary, and communications cabling, along with installing a new earthing system. HV services were reconfigured, and new cabling was installed for PCS and auxiliary connections. Hopkins Energy conducted testing on all new cabling, while Gresham House commissioned BESS systems and communications. Site security measures were implemented to safeguard equipment and ensure safety throughout the project. This collective effort ensured the project’s smooth and successful completion.
